Outlook / on W10 wont preview PDF files, Word etc. all - Microsoft Community.Preview attachments in Outlook

Outlook is performing fine and as expected. Word previews fine. When I double click the PDF it opens as expected. I have completely uninstalled Adobe, re-installed and the same. This has happened a couple of times in the past with Office updates and I found a couple of articles showing a registry mod that fixed it. I cant fine that now. I can find older ones but they are a couple of years old now and don't want to mess with the Reg.

You might be experiencing this issue because the association between the PDF Viewer and Outlook is missing, or the Outlook association registry key is corrupted.

To diagnose and fix this problem, let's run a Quick Repair to fix the association problem and file corruption. Kindly follow the steps below:. Let's also check if a configuration error is causing this issue.

This tool provides a detailed report of your installed Office programs and highlights known problems. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. No joy I am afraid. Tried the quick repair, no errors found and still the same.

Also, the file is Microsoft Office and not Word as you said. I should have mentioned, I had already tried OffCAT and no errors relating to this issue were thrown up. I do remember I changed a registry key earlier in the year or last year and that fixed it. Then after an update it dropped again and I think I used an app that was downloaded to repair which worked fine.

We appreciate your detailed reply, Rob. You may need to set up your email account again in Outlook. A new user account should have default registry keys and will help us isolate the cause of this problem. If the issue persists, then we suggest that you reinstall Office on your Surface. Reinstalling Office should fix any broken registry entries.

If you are using a POP3 email account, make sure to backup your emails first before reinstalling Office.
